We have funding available for early-career researchers working on leishmaniasis or Chagas disease, to attend meetings and conferences; further information below.

 

Travel Bursaries

Apply By 28/02/2022

• Open to researchers (particularly PhDs, PDRAs) within and outside the Network to attend NTD network meetings, conferences and training workshops that are related to network goals (drug targets and related research relevant to leishmaniasis or Chagas disease)
• Applicant needs to give a talk or present a poster on Leishmaniasis or Chagas disease research
• Up to £1,500 funding per bursary for non UK applicants, we give preference to ODA countries
• Up to £2,000 funding per bursary for UK applicants
• Can include relevant travel, accommodation and subsistence costs incurred and also any relevant conference registration fees
• Expenditure claims must be fully supported by relevant invoices and/ or receipts.
• An End of Travel Bursary Report must be completed and returned to the UNIVERSITY within 1 month of the project end date.

Research Bursaries - Network partners only

Apply By 28/02/2022

• To support short-term, focused research visits between Network partners.
• Open to PhDs or PDRAs
• Apply anytime
• £5,000 of funding for travel and living costs maximum
• Can include relevant travel, accommodation and subsistence costs incurred and also valid consumable costs.
• A payment of up to £2000 can be claimed after the project start date if valid expenditure quotes for travel are submitted along with a breakdown of expenditure
• All expenditure claims must be fully supported by relevant invoices and/ or receipts.
• End of Research Bursary Report must be completed and returned to the UNIVERSITY within 1 month of the project end date.

• We seek routes to effective treatments without the severe side effects of current drugs
• Our 45 teams in 13 research institutes across South America, Asia and the UK, include experts in immunology, chemical biology, structural biology, and parasitology

Our Network of scientists can help your company progress your research and development in drug discovery.
• We provide up to £10,000, to fund e.g.:
o A researcher for 3 months
o Specialised equipment for joint project
o Biologics, chemical library access
• Industrial partner provides e.g.:
o Expertise, time
o Access to specialist equipment
o Chemical compounds
